Frequently Asked Questions
How do I set up a research visit to the MRM?
If you would like to view an object that is not on exhibit, or perform research on any portion of the collection, you must send a formal request by email, to the Attention of the Curator of Collections. The request must include your contact information; the object(s) you are requesting to view or research; the project description for which the information will be used, and where your research will be published.
Once your request has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted by the Curator of Collections to set up an appointment or to request further information.
How do I request an image of an object from the Museum Collection?
If you would like an image of an object from the MRM collection, you must contact the Curator of Collections by mail, phone, or email. You will be sent a Millicent Rogers Museum Permission Form. The form requests the project description for the use of the image; when and how the image will be used; if you plan to reproduce the image, and where it will be published.
All rules and regulations pertaining to the use of the image are included in the form, as well as publication fees.
After the permission form is returned to the museum, and the request is approved, the image will be provided.
How do I gift something to the collection?
If you would like to gift an object to the museum collection, it is important to know that the acquisition process can take anywhere from three to six months. The first step is to contact the Curator of Collections. It is desirable to have the proposed gift brought to the museum in order for our staff to view its condition. A Temporary Custody Receipt will be filled out by the Curator of Collections. You will receive a copy for your records. Your form, supporting documents, and the object will be kept in the museum vault until the Collections Committee reviews the proposed acquisition. After the initial Collections Committee meeting, you may be contacted with further questions. The proposed acquisition will be presented to the full board at the next Board of Trustees Meeting. The Committee will make recommendations before a final vote is taken on the proposed donation. After the Board of Trustees Meeting, you will be notified by the Curator of Collections regarding the final decision. A Deed of Gift Form will be sent to you.
