Millicent Rogers Museum Hosts Popular Turquoise Gala
The Turquoise Gala is one of the biggest events on the Millicent Rogers Museum calendar. In among the art exhibits and special events, the institution on the hill above El Prado hosts the highly popular gala to raise essential funds in support of the museum.
This year's event starts Friday (Aug. 2) at 3:30 p.m. at El Monte Sagrado Resort, 317 Kit Carson Road. Visitors can enjoy light hors d'oeuvres while they listen to a fascinating presentation on the "History of Turquoise" by Dr. Frances Joan Mathien, who has been researching Chaco Canyon in northwestern New Mexico for nearly 30 years and is retired from the National Park Service.
