Now Hiring: Curatorial Assistant
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, non-exempt
PAY: $18-$22/hour
REPORTS TO: Curator
HOURS: 5 days per week, 9 - 5 with overtime pay available for special events or projects
SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Curator, the Curatorial Assistant provides support to all day-to-day aspects of the care of the MRM collection, including assisting in inventory projects, research, reorganization, and correction of collections records. Additionally, this position assists in tasks related to the development and implementation of temporary and permanent exhibitions, as well as implementing museum public programs.
Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in collections management as directed, to include retrieval of materials, researching and verifying information.

Maintains and updates accurate records pertaining to the collection, using a computerized collections management system.

Performs general collections duties.

Assists in regular exhibition installation and deinstallation.

Implements pre-planned public programs for a variety of audiences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Basic record maintenance skills, physical and digital files.

Proficiency in the use of computers.

Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.

Collaborative work style.

Informational research skills.

Able to lift 50lbs.
Minimum Qualifications

BA or BA in progress in a museum related field.

Comfortable working Google applications such as: Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.

At least 6 months of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of museum databases.

Knowledge of basic museum standards and procedures.

Skill in the appropriate handling, crating, and storage of museum-quality artwork and/or artifacts.

Knowledge of SketchUp.
