Retablos

Retablos are a traditional form of Hispanic religious art in New Mexico dating back hundreds of years. They usually depict saints or scenes from Bible stories. They are often seen in homes on walls or altars and were originally used to decorate the earliest Catholic mission churches in the area. They are still made and used today, and often collected as works of art as well as devotional objects.
