2. Design your own Ketoh
Choose a motif used by the Navajo on other ketohs: petals or leaves, butterfly, frog and tadpole, sunbursts, possible equinox markers, reference to the four sacred directions and the originary center of the Navajo cosmos. Remember that the ketohs feature a centered design with quadrants. Often, bars cross the centers to the sides. Make your design fit these restrictions.
Transfer to a piece of cardboard. Cut out the ketoh. Place around the wrist and overlap ends. Mark the end of the band with a pencil. Remove the ketoh from the wrist and line up the edge to the line you marked. Punch 2 holes through both upper and lower bands with a paper punch. Spray ketoh with silver paints or cover with aluminum foil. Decorate ketoh according to the information you have learned. Outline designs with felt tip pen. Place ketoh back around your wrist and tie with a piece of string.
